Salary range: £42,000 - £45,000 per year, pro rata to contract length 
Contract: Fixed-Term 9 months with potential to be extended 
Hours:  Full time, 35 hours per week. Standard working hours are Monday – Friday, 9am - 5pm. 
Location: Somerset House, London, although hybrid working is encouraged 
Anticipated start date: September 2026

Blue Marine's Mission

Blue Marine Foundation seeks to protect and restore life in the ocean. Our mission is to see at least 30 per cent of the ocean protected by 2030 and the whole ocean sustainably managed. We support low-impact fishing and equitable use of the ocean and address overfishing – one of the world’s biggest environmental challenges.

The Role

We are looking for an organised, proactive and reliable Senior Development Manager to join our development team. While this position is offered as a fixed-term maternity cover, we see it as much more than a temporary role. It is an opportunity to build connections, develop your career and be part of a team that truly values your contribution.  

Within this role your main responsibility will be to grow support for Blue Marine by identifying new corporate partners, building strong relationships, developing funding proposals and securing donations. 

We are looking for someone who can:  
  • Support the fundraising team to open doors and generate meetings, write fundraising applications, present and secure donations.   
  • Generate new corporate donor relationships.   
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with corporate partners.   
  • Be responsible for reporting and maintaining relationships with existing corporates.  
  • Represent Blue Marine at external meetings to secure funding.   
  • Uphold Blue Marine’s values and always embody this behaviour internally and externally. 
This list is not exhaustive, and the selected candidate will be required to undertake other relevant tasks.

Skills and experience required

  • Experience in corporate fundraising, partnerships, business development or relationship management. 
  • Experience securing support from corporate partners, sponsors or high-value donors. 
  • Strong relationship-building, networking and communication skills. 
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 
  • Experience developing funding proposals, pitches or partnership opportunities. 
  • Strong administrative and reporting skills, with experience maintaining accurate records and databases. 
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM systems. 
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and commitment to Blue Marine's mission and values. 

You may also

  • Experience working within the corporate sector. 
  • An established network of corporate contacts and the ability to generate new partnership opportunities. 
  • Experience managing corporate partnerships and donor reporting. 
  • Experience working in the charity, conservation or environmental sector.
